Having produced roller coater’s since 1960, we are excited to launch our compact hot-melt roller coater to complement our range of hot and cold roller coating systems. Having recognised the growing need for compact systems that can coat thin materials such as textiles for automotive applications we went to both end customers and adhesive suppliers for their experiences from existing systems in the market before embarking on the design. The final product is a high technology, low operator complexity and low maintenance product. Material thickness and coat weights are controlled via a touch screen PLC which drive the height adjustment and the knife positions via step motors to the desired positions to obtain repeatable coat weights and easy changing between working, cleaning and end of production modes. Other features based on customer feedback include; the ability to open the knives +5mm for easy cleaning and removal of solid particles, larger opening heated tank above the roller to accommodate 2.5kg adhesive blocks, traceability testing to link product bar code with product recipes in the coater PLC to ensure the correct settings are being used for the product being coated.
