The TSV varaible width slot head is typically used in continuous coating applications of hotmelt adhesives. The TSV has been designed to allow a variable coating width via movable dams inside the head controlled by Siemens brushless motors with absolute encoder feedback to the main line PLC. The head has been designed in three pieces the base that is fixed into the line and has the heater elements and is the main mass of the head and two parts that are the lips of the slot head where the adhesive exits, the three part system simplifies maintenance and lip modifications and also reduces the need for costlier spare parts. The head heating is sperated into 6 independently controlled zones, this combined with the large mass of the slot head helps to maintiain a stable application temperature and therefore stable coat weight application. The slot head has 2 x glue inlets with air operated injector valves and a easy access filtration system to filter and solid particles before they can enter the slot head.
