Industrial - Panel Production

The application of adhesives and associated material handling equipment to produce a wide variety of sandwich elements.

An ever increasing market, sandwich panels can be made up of a wide variety of substrates such as plastics (e.g. GRP, ABS, PVC), wood (e.g.OSB, Plywood, Chipboard, MDF, HDF, cork), insualting materials (e.g. mineral wool, EPS, XPS, PIR) and metals (e.g. ceramic covered, galvanised, stainless), different materials have both adhesion and application challenges, and greatly varying sizes and shapes that all combined together require different adhesive application and handling solutions.

Some examples of equipment supplied into this market include:

- Aluminium honeycomb panels bonded with 2 component Polyurethane applied in multi beads using an x-y table,

- Electorinc White board production using PUR hotmelt applied via a hot roller coater together with nip roller pressing and shelf handling system.

- Washing sponges produced using PUR hotmelt applied via a hot coater with continuous belt press combined with nip roller and additional equipment such as chilling zones to accelerate the adhesive crystallisation for in-line cutting processes,

- Continuous laminating of insulation panels consisting of steel and mineral wool using a spray or bead traverse application with 2 component foaming Polyurethane with short potlifes (e.g. 20 seconds).
